East Barnwell is an area of Cambridge which occupies the northeast part of the city and derives its name from the former Barnwell Priory, which existed until around 1538.

Located in Abbey Ward at the junction of Newmarket Road and Barnwell Road, the proposal by Cambridge Investment Partnership will provide 120 high-quality, affordable residential homes, maximising the full potential of the site. Providing homes above community buildings will activate the site and establish a new community heart where people live, work, shop, play and socialise.

Site 1 will comprise of 54 apartments, a community centre and library and a pre-school.  Site 2 will comprise of the remaining 66 apartments and street-level retail units.
